Walking in Essex

The popularity of organised walks is growing, certainly in the Basildon and District Rambling Club.

There is a surprising variety of countryside in Essex, from the Chelmer and Blackwater Canal, the villages like Pleshey, and the Country Parks, like Thorndon and Hadleigh Castle, with its views over the Thames Valley, Hornchurch Country Park and its association with RAF Hornchurch. So there is always plenty of variety on our walks.

Whilst in London, there are the tow paths of the canals bringing new vistas at every turn and the Royal Parks with their wide open green spaces.
